Job Summary:
RAGA is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Communications team member to support our communications team in amplifying the voices of Republican attorneys general. The ideal candidate will assist in crafting compelling messages, managing media outreach, and engaging with stakeholders to advance RAGA’s mission.
Title of Communications Coordinator/Assistant will be dependent on experience. This is either an entry-level or second job and offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in political communications within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in drafting press releases, op-eds, social media content, talking points, background documents, and other communications materials.
- Monitor media coverage of Republican AGs and compile daily news clips and reports.
- Support social media management, including content creation, scheduling, and analytics tracking on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Coordinate with team members to prepare for events and press conferences.
- Conduct research on policy issues, political developments, and media trends relevant to Republican AGs.
- Help maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and external partners.
- Provide administrative support, such as managing email correspondence, updating contact databases, and organizing communications files.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in communications, public relations, digital media / design, office of an elected official, or a political campaign/organization (internships count toward experience).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail and proofreading abilities.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Canva, Google Analytics, CapCut).
- Knowledge of current political landscape, conservative principles, and issues facing state attorneys general.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Ability to edit videos/graphics.
- Passion for advancing Republican values and a commitment to RAGA’s mission.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a political or advocacy organization.
- Understanding of media relations and pitching stories to journalists.
- Ability to thrive under tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
