Position Summary
The Deputy Political Director is a key member of RAGA’s Political Department and plays a critical role in advancing the organization’s efforts to elect Republican Attorneys General nationwide. Working closely with the Political Director, this individual will help develop and execute political strategy, manage candidate and campaign relationships, oversee political vendors, coordinate campaign operations, lead rapid response efforts, and provide strategic support across RAGA’s targeted races.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor Attorney General races nationwide, including candidate activity, polling, fundraising, opposition research, earned media, and major political developments.
- Lead RAGA’s political rapid response efforts by monitoring breaking news, identifying political opportunities and threats, and coordinating timely messaging and strategic guidance for campaigns and stakeholders.
- Track campaign expenditures and independent spending across priority races and provide regular reporting to senior leadership.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned candidates, campaign staff, consultants, and other political stakeholders.
- Maintain comprehensive calendars of filing deadlines, primary elections, conventions, runoffs, and other critical political milestones.
- Draft political memoranda, rapid response materials, briefing documents, talking points, presentations, and messaging in support of RAGA’s political efforts.
- Coordinate with communications, research, and digital teams to develop and distribute timely messaging and political updates.
- Manage the Request for Proposal (RFP) process for political vendors, including polling, media, direct mail, digital, and creative services.
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and managing vendor teams for targeted races.
- Support candidate recruitment efforts and participate in campaign strategy meetings with candidates and consultants.
- Prepare agendas, briefing books, presentations, and follow-up materials for meetings with candidates, donors, and organizational leadership.
- Develop presentations and PowerPoint decks for internal planning and external stakeholder meetings.
- Travel as needed to support candidate events, political meetings, fundraising events, campaign activities, and rapid response needs.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Previous experience with a political campaign, party committee, government office, or related political organization required.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Experience drafting political messaging, talking points, or rapid response materials is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and respond quickly to rapidly evolving political developments.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
