Job Summary:

RAGA is seeking an experienced and strategic National Press Secretary/Communications Director to lead our communications efforts on a national scale. This senior role involves developing and executing comprehensive media strategies, serving as the primary spokesperson for RAGA, and managing a team to amplify the impact of Republican attorneys general. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in political communications, crisis management, digital media, and building relationships with key media outlets to advance RAGA’s mission in a high-stakes environment.

Title of National Press Secretary/Communications Director will be dependent on experience. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement national communications strategies, including media outreach, messaging frameworks, and campaign narratives to support Republican AGs.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for RAGA, handling media inquiries, conducting interviews, and representing the organization at events and press conferences.
  • Lead the drafting and distribution of press releases, op-eds, talking points, and other high-level communications materials.
  • Oversee media monitoring, analysis of coverage trends, and preparation of reports for senior leadership.
  • Manage and mentor a team of communications staff, including assistants, coordinators, and consultants to ensure cohesive and effective execution of initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with national journalists, editors, and influencers in conservative and mainstream media.
  • Coordinate crisis communications, rapid response efforts, and proactive storytelling to counter narratives and highlight AG achievements.
  • Collaborate with RAGA’s executive team, member AGs, and external partners on policy communications, event planning, and digital strategies.
  • Track and analyze communications metrics to refine strategies and demonstrate ROI.
  • Manage a content calendar and social media growth for the organization and individual attorneys general. 
  • Manage and track national media bookings for 25+ state attorneys general on a regular basis. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in political communications, public relations, or media relations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or similar role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in national media strategy, including pitching stories, crisis management, social media, and on-the-record spokesperson experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to craft persuasive messages under tight deadlines.
  • Deep knowledge of the political landscape, conservative principles, and issues relevant to state attorneys general.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and platforms, including social media management (e.g., X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube), analytics software, and media databases (e.g., Cision).
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong network of media contacts and experience in a political campaign, advocacy organization, or government office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with elected officials, particularly in a partisan or advocacy setting.
  • Familiarity with legal and policy issues at the state level.
  • Advanced skills in video production, graphic design, or data visualization tools.
