Position Summary
The Political Assistant provides administrative and operational support to RAGA’s political department. Working directly with the Political Director and Deputy Political Director, this individual helps ensure the smooth execution of day-to-day political operations by coordinating vendor invoicing, maintaining political calendars, tracking campaign activity, assisting with research, and supporting meetings, travel, and special projects. This position is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented professional looking to build a career in political campaigns and committee operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process, track, and reconcile political vendor invoices while coordinating with the finance department to ensure timely payment.
- Maintain vendor contracts, billing records, and payment schedules.
- Assist in monitoring Attorney General races by tracking candidate announcements, endorsements, polling, fundraising, and other political developments.
- Maintain and update calendars of filing deadlines, primary elections, conventions, runoffs, debates, and other key political dates.
- Assist with political research, briefing materials, and background memoranda for candidates and priority races.
- Support the Request for Proposal (RFP) process by organizing submissions, tracking deadlines, and communicating with vendors.
- Coordinate logistics for political meetings, conference calls, candidate visits, and campaign events.
- Prepare meeting agendas, presentation materials, briefing books, and follow-up action items.
- Assist with travel arrangements and expense reporting for political staff.
- Maintain political databases, contact lists, and internal tracking documents.
- Support the preparation of PowerPoint presentations and Excel reports for internal meetings and senior leadership.
- Provide general administrative support to the Political Department and assist with special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Prior internship or professional experience in political campaigns, government, public affairs, or a related field preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
- Occasional travel may be required.
