WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) affirmed its support for Michael Allen as the Republican nominee for Colorado Attorney General, expressing confidence heading into the November general election. A credentialed prosecutor who has spent his career fighting to keep Colorado families safe, Allen is the clear choice to return the Colorado Attorney General’s office to its core mission of protecting Coloradans, reducing crime, and delivering justice.
“Michael Allen is the proven, results-driven prosecutor Colorado needs as its next Attorney General,” said RAGA Executive Director Adam Piper. “His Democratic opponent, Jena Griswold, is one of the most radical and least qualified candidates in the country. The Colorado Attorney General race is the epitome of the credentialed-versus-crazy AG narrative that voters are seeing across the country. This is a top-tier race for RAGA, and Michael Allen will be elected as Colorado’s Attorney General this fall.”
Colorado’s own legal community has raised serious doubts about whether Griswold is qualified to hold the state’s top legal position. Three former Colorado Attorneys General — Ken Salazar, John Suthers, and Cynthia Coffman, representing both parties — have publicly questioned whether she has the legal experience and judgment to lead an office of more than 700 attorneys handling criminal law, consumer protection, civil rights, water law, and constitutional litigation. Their concerns are well-founded.
A CBS News investigation found that Griswold has repeatedly misrepresented her professional background — claiming to have practiced international anti-corruption law for two years when her own campaign’s timeline shows she was at the firm for no more than 15 months, and claiming to have argued before the U.S. Supreme Court when she was not even credentialed to appear before the Court. The investigation also found that dozens of Colorado Democrats — lawyers, judges, and former colleagues — privately said they did not believe she was equipped to serve as Attorney General, but declined to go on camera out of fear of retaliation.
With these questions mounting, RAGA sees a clear opening — and Republicans are looking forward to a strong showing in Colorado this November.
