WASHINGTON- The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) has debunked Jay Jones’ October fundraising report, exposing yet another blatant lie from a candidate desperate to distract from his scandal-ridden October.

In a press release issued immediately after the Virginia Attorney General candidate debate, Jones’ team repeated a specific false claim that Jay Jones had raised $500,000 in the 24 hours after the debate.

However, Jones’ actual October report tells a different story. Donations received during that two-day window totaled less than $356,000, with the vast majority ($250,000) coming from the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA).

When pressed about the blatant lie, Jones’ campaign insisted that there was a $250,000 “outstanding pledge” from DAGA that arrived on Monday, October 20.

Furthermore, Jones claimed that the $500,000 raised was due to “momentum” and “enthusiasm” from Virginia voters. The reality: 81.7% of Jones’ funding came from out-of-state Democrats and liberal special interests.

“Jay Jones is caught in yet another lie. Whether it’s a fake apology about his violent text messages, falsified community service hours, or now, bogus fundraising numbers, deception is Jay Jones’ default,” said Klarke Kilgore, RAGA Political Director. “No matter how you do the math, it doesn’t add up. Jones lied to create some free press following his dismal debate appearance.”

RAGA Executive Director Adam Piper stated, “Jay Jones is the Pinocchio of Virginia politics. He lied about his completed community service hours. Now, he’s lying about his campaign finance reports. We all know IOUs and Monopoly Money cannot pay the bills, but Jay seems to think so, probably because he got away with his Get Out of Jail Free card.”

“When Jay Jones was at Goldman Sachs, his group was investigated for fraud, now Jay himself is under criminal investigation for potential fraud. Jay Jones simply cannot be trusted for any elected office,” Piper continued. “DAGA’s desperate bid to resuscitate Jay Jones’ campaign is largely because leftwing donors don’t want to be on Jay Jones’ campaign finance reports. National Democrats refused to call on Jay Jones to drop out and now Jay and the DNC will be held accountable by voters next Tuesday.”
