WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Republican Attorneys General Association today called out newly minted Michigan Democrat Attorney General nominee Eli Savit for centering his career around putting criminals first and law enforcement last, the polar opposite of what it means to be an Attorney General.

As Washtenaw County Prosecutor, Savit constantly chose criminals over victims.

He pushed no-cash-bail policies that allowed dangerous criminals to be put right back on to Michigan’s streets, refused to prosecute sex work, and adopted policies legalizing hallucinogenic drugs.

“The contrast in Michigan could not be more clear: Career Prosecutor Doug Lloyd, who puts Michiganders first, versus Michigan Mamdani Eli Savit, who puts criminals first,” said RAGA Executive Director Adam Piper. “While Eli Savit is the radical liberal activist ‘prosecutor’ prototype, Doug Lloyd has spent decades as a prosecutor protecting Michiganders. Lloyd has been a District Attorney in a very purple county. He understands public safety is not a partisan issue, nor should it be. The job of the Attorney General is to promote public safety, not cater to career criminals.”

In November, Michiganders will have a choice, and we are confident that they will prioritize public safety over coddling criminals.
