Virginia Democrats today chose embattled incumbent Mark Herring to be their Attorney General nominee for the 2021 election. Herring, who barely survived a primary challenge in today’s election, has spent the last seven years pushing progressive policies that let criminals off the hook. In response to Herring’s primary victory, RAGA Executive Director Peter Bisbee released the following statement.

“Virginians must end Mark Herring’s reign over the Office of the Attorney General. Herring has been criticized for trying to cover up the illegal release of violent prisoners and failed to hold rapists and rioters accountable when local prosecutors wouldn’t do their job. Worst of all, Herring supported ending the notifications crime victims receive when their predator is released from prison.

“As violent crime rises, Virginia families need an Attorney General who will stand up for crime victims and prioritize public safety in the Office of the Attorney General. Virginia families need former prosecutor Jason Miyares.”
