Washington, D.C. – Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe today appointed Catherine Hanaway as Missouri Attorney General. Hanaway will replace outgoing Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, who was appointed yesterday to serve as Co-Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
“Missouri is lucky that Catherine Hanaway answered the call to serve her state once again,” said RAGA Chairman and Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach. “Having served as a U.S. Attorney, former legislative speaker, and accomplished private practice attorney who served as chair of a national firm, Hanaway is not only qualified to lead the Attorney General’s office, but intimately familiar with the challenges facing Missouri and our nation. She will instantly contribute to the important work of the Republican AGs to make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous, and continue the strong legacy of previous Missouri Attorneys General, like Andrew Bailey, Eric Schmitt, Josh Hawley, and John Ashcroft.”
“We applaud Governor Kehoe’s decision to appoint Catherine Hanaway to be Missouri’s next Attorney General,” said RAGA Executive Director Adam Piper. “Catherine is an exceptional choice to replace Andrew Bailey. She is a proven leader, trailblazer, and perfectly suited to continue Missouri’s leadership in some of our nation’s most important legal fights. RAGA looks forward to working with Catherine to defend the rule of law, ensure Missouri remains a beacon of freedom, and work with President Trump to Make America Safe Again.”
Hanaway will take office on September 8, 2025, upon Attorney General Bailey’s departure.
