WASHINGTON – The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) is leading the national calls demanding that Democrat Jay Jones drop out of the race for Virginia Attorney General after his obscene text messages glorifying political violence came to light last week.
The content of Jay Jones’ text messages is abhorrent, but the context makes them worse. Jay Jones sent graphically violent text messages while Republicans and Democrats were eulogizing a former Virginia Delegate, a Democrat known for working across the aisle.
Jay Jones said if any of the Republicans who were reaching across the aisle died before him, he would “go to their funerals to piss on their graves”. Jay Jones said the Republican Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates is worse than two murderous dictators, Adolf Hitler and Pol Pot. He also said that he hoped the Speaker’s wife would watch her own children die in her arms and further justified his comments about murder because he believed the Speaker was raising “little fascists.”
RAGA specifically called on the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) to withdraw their support of Jay Jones, both politically and financially. DAGA has been radio silent since the news about Jay Jones broke last week.
Some organizations and individuals are stepping across the party line and calling for Jay Jones to drop out, including BradyPAC, which removed Jay Jones from their list of endorsed candidates earlier this week.
While national Democrats have remained silent on the matter, national talking heads recognize the danger in electing Jay Jones. Even MSNBC acknowledged that Jay Jones must drop out of the Attorney General’s race.
RAGA has launched a petition to demand Jay Jones withdraw his candidacy.
