WASHINGTON- The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) today announced it doubled its investment this week in the Virginia Attorney General’s race to support incumbent Attorney General Jason Miyares against Democrat nominee Jay Jones. RAGA transferred $2.5 million today to Attorney General Miyares after dropping $2 million in the race earlier this week.

This new contribution brings RAGA’s total spending in the race to over $8.5 million, nearly three times more than its Democrat counterpart. This is the largest investment by any national committee in the statewide races in Virginia in 2025, and $1.5 million more than the $7 million effort it funded in 2017, RAGA’s previous spending record in Virginia.

This investment follows the implosion of Jay Jones’ campaign after news broke about his violent text messages in which he fantasized about the assassination of his political opponent and his opponent’s family.

RAGA Executive Director Adam Piper said, “The disgusting text messages sent by Jay Jones fantasizing about the assassination of his political opponent and his opponent’s family – including children – should be a wakeup call and a red line for all his supporters. This investment will help inform voters who the real Jay Jones is. RAGA is proud to double its money to Attorney General Jason Miyares to ensure that Virginians have an AG who will continue to protect their families, while Jay Jones will fantasize about their death.”

In addition to the $8.5 million contribution, RAGA has launched a strategic and far-reaching communications, polling, and outreach campaign in Virginia. This includes the seven-figure Secure Your Vote program in partnership with the RSLC, making this the largest Republican GOTV effort in Virginia history.
